Today, public arenas are designed not only to stand up to heavy use; they also feature strong elements of design which are meant to improve the fan experience. St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center is just such an example. It is home to the NHL Minnesota Wild. Additionally, the arena hosts over 140 entertainment events each year. The building encompasses 650,000 square feet with four separate concourses. Grazzini Brothers was contracted to set over 80,000 square feet of tile in the public restrooms and food vendor areas. Grazzini also installed over 40,000 square feet of slate tile in the concourse areas to help achieve a Northwood’s feeling. In addition to the public areas, Grazzini tile setters installed tile in the locker rooms which feature spa and steam room areas. The project was completed on time and on budget despite an aggressive, short duration schedule.
