The power and beauty of natural stone is the highlight of the 401 Carlson Tower design. The architect’s design called for the marriage of granite, marble and tile. Grazzini artisans carefully blended Radiant Red granite, black granite and tile together to form a dramatic water feature in the main lobby of the building. Stone was then carried into the elevator lobby area through an elaborate pattern made from three different types of stone. Grazzini craftsmen used a water jet cutting system to bring the stones together forming a large ellipse that runs the entire length and width of the area. Finally, the building’s five elevators were framed out in red granite.
